I think it is the future.
Just think of the boredom you suffer on 12 hour plane journeys, but if you had access to facebook and msn things would never be the same again!
You could either have key boards in the fold down tables or simply mini keyboards (mobile phone style) that you can pay to have, like they currently do for headphones, so you could access the Internet.
